Memorial - National Memorial Arboretum

(A.T.S. Remembered)

N.M.A.

The National Memorial Arboretum is located in Alrewas, Staffordshire, which is about 5 miles from Lichfield and Burton-upon-Trent. The Arboretum is a tribute to the people of the twentieth century and has sections dedicated to the armed and merchant services, the police and other groups. The Arboretum has sections dedicated to the W.R.A.C. and A.T.S. AckAck and was inspired by a visit of David Childs (Director of the Arboretum) to the Arlington Cemetery and the National Arboretum in Washington D.C. in 1988.

The Arboretum is situated on land gifted by Lafarge Aggregates and now has over 40,000 trees.

The Arboretum was funded by an appeal which started in 1994 and a millennium grant and I believe it has recently been handed over to the Royal British Legion. Click on the link below to visit the website for details of opening times and a map of how to get there.
